Palak suggested to open own e-mail
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak advised to use personal email instead of Gmail. At the same time, he emphasized on 4 things to be safe and secure in the digital world.
He gave these suggestions at the first Bangabandhu International Cyber Security Awareness Award 2023 award ceremony at Hotel Radisson Blu in the capital on Thursday.
While speaking as the chief guest, the ICT State Minister said that everyone should have their own account even if they use Gmail. Because Gmail is vulnerable. There is a risk of being infected at any time. But no one can say who hasn't been hacked yet apparently that he really hasn't been hacked. So you have to be aware. Because someone is constantly watching you on the internet.
'This is why we have launched the awareness programs for our students, parents, government officials and private initiatives on digital literacy, cyber security, and social media management', he added.
In his speech, the ICT State Minister congratulated the individuals and organizations who received the award and advised them to be aware of four things. We need collaboration and joint initiatives from the private sector, academia and government to secure our cyber space, he said. To secure our cyberspace, we need to consider four important factors and act accordingly. Awareness of personal and institutional issues, acquisition of technical skills; Creating a digital infrastructure and policy framework and harmonizing knowledge and information should build a single platform on crossborder security.
Resident Representative of UNDP Bangladesh Stephen Liller, ICT Secretary Md. Shamsul Arefin, Director General of Digital Security Agency Abu Saeed Kamruzzaman and Managing Director of Hi-Tech Park Authority GSM Zafar Ullah were present at the event.
